Vale Argentille Geneva
Its with great sadness that i tell you that my beautiful warmblood mare Geneva has passed away, very suddenly last night.
we had an autopsy today and found the messenteric artery, which is the main artery to the bowel, had burst. Poor girl, she wouldnt have been in pain long thankfully. Just one of those things the vet said where her time was just up.
She was an absolute one of a kind, and i dont think i will know another mare like her. It took me ages to work out why she was not allowing other mares to move in the paddock when i first got her, but finally worked it out when she had her own baby. she was just protecting them, like she protected her baby! she wouldnt let her foal out of the shade if it were hot, nad if it went near the fence she would get inbetween the fence and the foal, totally amazing watching her. My arab mares were like very neglectful mothers compared to her!!
Her foal would constantly try to escape tho! lol, she would overtake him tho by the time he got 10 metres she was that agile and quick.
amazing mare, temperament was that good i could give a procaine penecillin without catching her, and she wouldnt move!
She loved her cuddles and would quietly stay still until i was ready to move on but often would be there close by until i had finished with the others so we could have one last moment.
That is one thing i will really miss with her, and am sad we cant have one last cuddle.
She was really happy here and i find comfort in that. She so loved being part of a herd and being able to gallop, warmblood style, with her Arabian friends. She was a gentle friend and boss mare to them all.
Goodbye Neevy, I hope you have met back up wtih Filu by now and are happily grazing spring pastures together.

Geneva just after arriving at Sheridan Park
Geneva was bred by Val D'Argent Stud in NSW. They were importers of the influential stallions Gullit and Biathlon Picasso.

Argentille Gullit (Exp UK)
Geneva was purchased as a 3 yo filly and transported to Queensland where she competed at the AWHA Gala Event National Mare Competition, coming second narrowly to the acclaimed imported mare Gina, owned by Jaybee Farms.
Geneva is by the Olympic star Gullit, who competed at the Sydney Olympic games in the year 2000 with Carl Hester UK.
Gullit is by the acclaimed sire Ulft, also sire of the black stallion Olympic Ferro.

Geneva with first foal by Jazz.
Geneva was first bred to Jazz for a chestnut colt foal, Jive Talkin', who was purchased by Tracey Round of Qld (5th on the Australian Dressage Leaderboards). He was shown once as a weanling at the AWHA Gala Day and recieved Champion gelding and Reserve Grand Champion Exhibit. He is now a 4yo and Tracey says he is 'Electric' and the best horse she has sat on! He has now started his dressage career.
3 YO Gelding by Dutch sensation JAZZ (KWPN) Tineke had nominally 'retired' from competition riding but was so enthusiastic about her beautiful young stallion that they took their place in the Dutch Team at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain (picture right). Jazz has gone on to make his mark as one of the most pre-potent Dressage sires in the world today and his influence is very relevant here in Australia as two of our most promising young dressage stars were bred by Tineke and sired by Jazz. Jive Magic and Chatham Park Jac are full brothers from the mare, Kind of Magic and they are both in the selector's sights for the Beijing Olympics. Rarely does the opportunity to purchase a young unspoiled horse with a truly international performance pedigree become available in Australia ... This 3 year old gelding, broken in and ready to go represents a once in a lifetime opportunity for the discerning and ambitious rider looking to go to the top. Jive Talking (JT) currently stands at 16.2hh. He is a dark Chestnut and goes nearly liver chestnut in winter. He is sound and has excellent conformation. He is currently in work and has shown a flair for dressage and jumping. He has a superb trot, but it his walk and canter that are really outstanding and make him a special young horse. All professionals that have ridden the horse have commented on his talent, trainability and nice temperament. He is a quick learner and lives up to the reputation of the breed for having sharp responses and he is very forward off the leg. Even though I have the horse of my dreams, work and family commitments mean that I do not have the time to do him justice ... so he is reluctantly offered for sale. Price $25,000 (no GST)

Duntroon, full brother to Don Fedor
Geneva after a year off was bred to the imported Donnerhall son Donnertraum. Donnertraum is a talented Queensland Dressage Champion. Donnertraum, a jet black stallion, is graded novice and is sure to rise through the dressage ranks quickly. Duntroon, the resulting foal, is a chestnut picture of his dad. He was sold before weaning to a dressage home in Western Australia and is to be ridden when old enough by Victoria Hamilton, a Grand Prix rider.

Donautraum Current 2006 and 2007 Qld Novice Dressage Champion
Genevas third foal is a magnificent filly by Royal Gregor who is by the well known stallion Royal Diamond. Royal Gregor passed his licensing with ease last year.

Gertie is an amazing filly with a tonne of presence and personality. She is intelligent and sweet natured but with enough fire in her to make a distinguished dressage or performance home. Gertie was sold within a week of the Horsedeals publication coming out and graced the January 2006 front cover.
SOLD to Victoria within a week!!
Geneva was bred to Donautraum for a 2006 colt for Sheridan Park. (see 2006 foals page)

She has now foaled an amazing brown colt we have named SP Don Fedor. She is the best mum and shielded him from all danger, even getting inbetween him and the fence! Geneva has proven to be a personality, practising her mothering skills on the arab mares by controlling when and where they moved! I had to rescue them numerous times so they could go to where they wanted without being blocked by Geneva! Honestly I think her true calling is cutting and campdrafting!! She is very quick on her feet and is able to get where she wants in a few strides. Quite a few times Fred has tried to make a quick getaway with absolutely no success!! She is a character!

Geneva heading off her wayward son in a matter of a few strides!
Her nature though is superb, she is so easy to do anything with even when she was hurt. Currently she has injured her foot and her dressings are just so easy to attend to, even though you know she must be feeling it a lot. This nature she has passed onto her foal, he's not a reactive type at all as well, and since he has been in the house yard he is getting a lot more confidant around us, even trying carrots (which he now loves!)
Fred has been sold to Tasmania and was Genevas last foal.
